Robotics Expert Identifies Three Industries Ready for Automation

2023-06-07

The automotive and logistics industries have heavily invested in automation in the U.S. economy, but there are still other industries that could benefit from robotics. Jeff Burnstein, president of the Association for Advancing Automation, believes that potential areas for automation growth include agriculture, food processing, and healthcare.

Burnstein, who recently received a prestigious award for his more than 40 years in the industry, suggests that automation and robotics could help with the dull, dirty, dangerous jobs that people dont necessarily want to do. Labor shortages, particularly in manufacturing, are driving the adoption of automation.

In agriculture, companies like Deere & Co. are testing autonomous technologies like tractors and drones to improve efficiency and cut costs. In food processing, robots are being used to identify and sort different cuts of meat, increasing safety and reducing labor costs for companies like Tyson Foods and Pilgrims Pride. And in healthcare, robots like Aethons TUG can perform tasks like transportation and cleaning with greater precision and efficiency.

As robots continue to prove their value in these industries, its likely that well see more investment and growth in automation.
